One of my favorite oils... Copaiba. Feel a difference in just 10 minutes! It's totally amazing! Copaiba (pronounced “Ko-pah-ee-bah”) essential oil is potentially the highest anti-inflammatory substance known to man either natural or synthetic. It has greater anti-inflammatory action than Ibuprofen or even Cortisone – and with NO SIDE EFFECTS! Copaiba decreases PGE2 production, and it is a Cox-2 inhibitor – making it very good for heart health (similar to why you would take an aspirin a day).
Copaiba is harvested in the same way we collect maple syrup by drilling a pipe into the tree. The essential oil is then produced by steam distilling the copal or oleoresin as it’s known that was collected from the tree.

What Makes Copaiba So Special?
Chemically Copaiba is very high in B-Caryophyllene. In Clove essential oil, B-Caryophyllene is only found in about 8% of the oil concentration. In Copaiba – it is 55-60% – the highest of any known essential oil. B-Caryophyllene is a Sesquiterpene. Sesquiterpenes have the general property of deleting faulty information in cellular memory that can cause disease. They can cross the blood brain barrier, and play a number of vital biochemical functions in both plants and animals. Sesquiterpenes have properties like hemoglobin in that they can carry oxygen molecules throughout the body and into the cells themselves.
What are the Medical Uses of Copaiba?
Copaiba medical can be used as a diuretic, laxative, a stimulant, it is good for congestion, mucus build up, and is anticarcinogenic. Copaiba along with all other essential oils has the ability to bring the body into homeostasis – so if you do not need a laxative or stimulant effect – don’t worry – you won’t get that action.
Because of its extremely high effect as an anti-inflammatory it works amazingly well for pain due to inflammation (which is basically all pain), disease linked to inflammation such as arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Lupus and MS respond very well to Copaiba use.
It is also very effective against urinary incontinence – and it has used successfully in several dogs to stop urine dribbling.
It is also great for, respiratory problems (bronchitis, sinusitis), skin disorders, urinary tract, bladder and kidney conditions (cystitis, infection) bleeding, hemorrhages, sore throats, stomach ulcers, tonsillitis, tumors, herpes gonorrhea, pain and insect bites.
Copaiba is known as a magnifier. Any time you use Copaiba with another essential oil, it will have the effect of magnifying the properties of that oil. This can enable you to use less of another more expensive oil or get larger benefits from a different oil that you are using.
How Do I Use Copaiba Essential Oil?
Copaiba is a very mild oil and can be applied topically NEAT, it can be applied to a newborn baby, bird, or other small animal. For very small animals, I would still dilute the oil, just as they do not require a full drop.
Orally, many people don’t even detect a flavor. It can be dripped directly under the tongue, taken in a capsule, taken in a “shot of juice”, or mixed with some food, honey, or Agave syrup. Dogs will eat it in just about any form, and cats generally eat it in a little canned food. Copaiba is approved as a food additive.
Aromatically, Copaiba has long been used for bleeding and internal and external wounds. If we are holding onto emotional wounds that no longer serve us, then we are projecting a victim consciousness into the future. This creates inner conflict and anxiety for the soul. Copaiba allows us to see our wounds and offers assistance with emotional clearing while providing spiritual protection. For those who combat stress and anxiety at work or home, copaiba offers security and grounding. It assists us with staying in the moment rather than projecting backwards or forward.
